SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING & MANAGEMENT

Creating, posting and managing promotional content across multiple social media platforms, on a sustained basis, is a skill we have developed over more than 10 years of consistent online activity.

Designing graphics and branding for promotional campaigns and events, organising special photo shoots and designing marketing campaigns are all part of the Capricorn Studios portfolio in recent years.

We also organised and managed St Helena’s first (and to date, only) private sector business conference, in 2020, with event sponsorships negotiated that included free WiFi for participants, an innovative initiative at the time.

We are constantly training and updating our skillsets in this area where the digital landscape is ever-changing.

In 2022 we established a business presence in the UK which has expanded the options and opportunities for enhancing the delivery on social media marketing and management services we can offer.

DIGITAL BRUSHES

Capricorn Studios utilises professional, fully-licensed, graphic design and production software.

Whether it’s retouching photographs, creating vector illustrations, animating video graphics or designing page layouts for print, all of this work is produced from industry-standard design programs.

Graphic design was always going to be a natural addition to our studio’s activities.

Operating in the media environment as we do, artwork has always been a vital component. Initially this applied to things like VHS/DVD/CD covers, then naturally reaching further into promotional material, logos, websites and so on.

And, of course, photography and filmmaking today relies as much on mastering digital editing as it does on camera skills.

MARKETING & PROMOTIONS

Whether it’s a new line of souvenir products, an exhibition, stage show or musical event, or promoting a tourism activity or destination, we have extensive experience across these areas.

Bringing ideas to life with a creative and innovative approach is something we enjoy, in ways that are able to capture the imagination of customers and audiences.

Just a few of the variety of events we have organised or played a key role in shaping and delivering in recent times, include:

  • ‘Roots & Shoots’ (2009) photography exhibition – a week-long open exhibition featuring studio portraiture and cultural stories, as well as a special art nude presentation of pictures. This exhibition was later adapted for a special showing at sea, during a voyage of the RMS St Helena, in 2015.
  • ‘Labour Take-On Time’ (2016) photography exhibition – presentation of a three-month project, documenting in pictures the amazing skills of the local stevedores as they manage the safe and efficient transfer cargo and passengers from the RMS St Helena to the Jamestown wharf, via small boats and barges.
  • ‘Engage 2020’ (2020) – organising St Helena’s first-ever, private-sector business conference; an all-day event featuring a broad cross-section of guest speakers, and a unique opportunity for networking and open discussion.
  • ‘Miss St Helena’ (2018, 2020 & 2022) – transforming and modernising the island’s traditional beauty pageant into a vibrant, four-week-long programme for contestants, culminating in an exciting event finale that focused not just on entertainment but also communicating a longer-term educational message. These events also set new records for audience numbers, being the first of its type to live stream globally.
  • ‘A Timeless Discovery’ (2024) – a specially produced, promotional short film, supporting the Travel St Helena online booking service. This three-minute video teased the concept of an untouched island being explored for the very first time, and drawing attention to the incredible natural environment that includes a variety of endemic plants and animals.

There are many, many more projects, from very small to large and complex, that we have been involved with on St Helena.
