From March 2022 the island’s regular air connection has changed once again.
The Titan charter flights direct from UK have stopped, and a fortnightly air service to/from Johannesburg, South Africa, operated by Airlink, has resumed after a two-year break due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
The Airlink service includes a shuttle, from St Helena to Ascension Island, once per month. Currently, in 2022, the Ascension runway is undergoing repairs so temporarily has a shorter operational length which in turn has meant airmail of small packages is very restricted, due to aircraft weight limitations.
We are unsure at this time (March 2022) whether a reliable airmail service, via South Africa, will become available.
At times there may be opportunity to have a passenger on a flight to carry small packages to the UK and then post into the global mail system, but this option is random.
The island’s cargo ship, MV Helena, continues to operate to South Africa and, and from time to time, Ascension Island.
We will attempt to continue to provide a mail-order service for our souvenirs, however, please keep in mind these limited links from St Helena and their associated delays when placing orders.
The Post Office on St Helena normally closes for outgoing mail about 6 or 7 days before the flight.
